As temperatures drop, the reactivity of soil stabilizers is affected. In order to ensure the quality of construction in winter, corresponding technical measures must be taken.
The principle of temperature influence
Both the hydration reaction and the ion exchange reaction of the curing agent require a certain temperature. When the temperature is below 5℃, the chemical reaction speed slows down significantly and the strength growth is slow; when the temperature is below 0℃, the reaction basically stops, and the water in the soil freezes and will destroy the formed structure.
Construction suggestions
- Conditions for stopping construction: When the lowest temperature of the day is below 0℃, it is recommended to suspend the curing construction.
- Measures to rush the construction period: If construction is necessary, work should be carried out during the period when the temperature is higher at noon, and early-strength antifreeze should be added.
- Insulation and maintenance: After the construction is completed, it should be covered immediately with straw curtains, quilts and other insulation materials to prevent freezing.
